hah listen to my piece "too funny" we're on such a similar wavelength on the drums (at least in the beginning). like actually i'm not trying to advertise its just kinda alarming. anyway 4.5/5. it's sick but just needs something other than drums to be a 5/5, which i can tell you understand from your comments so... yeah good job
But this isn't a song. It's not made to be listened to like a song. It's made for other advanced producers who need ideas or just like to listen to this kind of step-by-step thing.
But, thanks anyways. I'm glad you liked the minimalism of it. :P
i can tell there's a lot of talent behind this but still can't listen to it for 7 minutes. seems like it needs vocals at least.
vocals and demo recoridng are coming shortly
excellent. love seeing quality abstract/experimental stuff on the site. (house and rave and techno is ok but this is more the kind of music i make/listen to). I love how the mix is so deep with hardly any clear bass hits, gives the song a good sense of space and warmth no matter how harsh the rest of the beats is. Great textures, very detailed. The very quiet low synth breakdown at 0:37 is interesting. Surprisingly effective minimal melody later (just the same note twice...) ... 4/5 9/10 very cool
Thank you man. I look forward to seeing more of your reviews as I become more and more intune with the glitches, composition, my inner beast and my inner character.
Swelling strings are the high point. The beat before the cymbals kick in falls flat for me, i understand its supposed to be minimal at that point but maybe to something to make it little less generic. The end with that thick, distorted-but-still-organic-sounding layer over everything is cool, as is the contrast of softer, more organic sounding music and aggressive, electronic sounding beat. 7/10 3.5/5 good job
Yeah, I figured there were some problems with the beat, and I'll get to that for the official release with vocals.
Thanks for the review, though. Means a lot to me. ^_^
Real potential here, I'm glad you're still working on it though. High point for me: 1:42 - 1:52. Love the rough texture of the lead synth against those chirps, and the sturdy, mid-tempo breakdown vibe. For me personally, this is more in-your-face than the faster parts. The pads don't have as much flavor as the lead and beat, at the intro/spacier points you sorta lose me (and I generally love spacey ambient music), i think the sounds/melody's on the pads are a little too vanilla, maybe play around with em some more? 3/5 7/10 for now keep it up
I'll get working on the pads, I also need to unclutter the fast bits, seems a bit muddy at some points. Thanks for the advice man, I'll make sure you dig it when I'm 100% finished.
THAT'S AWESOME. can i use this in something?
Be my guest!
Show me it when you're done ok? :)
10 stars for sampling monty python.
10 stars for my cat...for he is 8 kilo
chord progression and parts of the melody sound familiar... they're from the song "stop the dams" by the Gorillaz. there are only so many good chord progressions in the world though, so maybe its a coincidence... i dunno...
never heard of it, but the melody was made by killya, and most of the piece.
so give em credit too.
the horns sound friggin great! how did you do that? please share with me your secrets... unless all FL horns sound that good, but i have yet to hear any that do...
and, you know, generally solid composition
few places to improve:
the drums sound kinda empty. it works in the intro, but perhaps they should start rolling into those big hits more with a bass drum, or perhaps beating out a tempo with a bass drum and emphasizing those hits with snares, instead of the kinda empty three hits plus frills thing
the little sparkly sound in the background at 00:13 is unnecessary, and kinda detracts form the epicness...
Take another look at the chord in your left hand at 00:42... sounds like maybe it should be a little different... I can't tell if it should be lower, or minor, but try tweaking it... its cool though you still get a ten :D
Hmm i listened a few times but it sounds fine to me, lol but i appreciate the few I may experiment with some different chords
